Under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, the activities of the first international scientific conference of the Faculty of Engineering at University of Thi-Qar were launched under the title “Renewable Energy: Research and Applications”, with the participation of a group of researchers from inside and outside Iraq.
The conference was attended by the Governor of Thi-Qar, a representative of the Governorate Council, the Chancellor of University of Sumer, and the Chancellor of University of Al Watanya of Science and Technology, along with the deans of the faculties and representatives of the concerned institutions and private sector companies.
The opening session began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran and the singing of the Iraqi national anthem. Then, the Chancellor of University of Thi-Qar Prof. Dr. Yahya Abdelreda Abbas, delivered a welcoming speech in which he expressed his pride in organizing this qualitative conference at University of Thi-Qar. He stressed the importance of the conference in supporting scientific research and the development of renewable energy projects, pointing out that the conference represents an important opportunity to exchange experiences and ideas among specialists, and contributes to enhancing the role of renewable energy to face environmental and economic challenges.
The Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Adnan Abdul Hussein Al-Aboudi, offered a speech in which he praised the vital role of the conference in spreading awareness of the importance of sustainable energy and the need to invest in it. He also expressed his thanks to all the participating researchers and the audience, and praised the efforts of the scientific and preparatory committees that contributed to the success of the conference, wishing continued success and good luck to the participants.
The activities of the conference included the presentation of multiple specialized research in the field of renewable energy, in addition to discussion sessions that added great scientific value and allowed participants to review the latest developments and innovations in this field. An accompanying exhibition was also organized for a number of companies to showcase the latest sustainable energy technologies.
At the end of the conference, the researchers and participants were honored with certificates of appreciation and honorary shields, in recognition of their distinguished scientific contributions, and then the attendees moved to the halls dedicated to discussing scientific research and exchanging experiences on the future of renewable energy and its prospects.
