University of Thi-Qar has accomplished a new achievement that reflects the great potential of its students, as three students excelled from various faculties in the Higher Education Reading Award in its second edition for the year 2024, which was launched by His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi. This award is one of the most important cultural competitions that contribute to enhancing reading and thinking skills among students.
The winning students from University of Thi-Qar were creative in reading and analyzing two books that have great cognitive and intellectual value; the book “Islamic Views of the Declaration of Human Rights” by the martyr Mohammed Al-Sadr (may Allah sanctify his soul), and the book “The Civilizational Issues.. How to Create our Future in a Changing World” by Zaki Milad. They proved a great ability to understand and interpret the core ideas in these books .
The most prominent results of the students of University of Thi-Qar in the competition are: – The student (Hamza Thidan Hawass) from the Faculty of Basic Education / First Grade Teacher, he has achieved the fifth place with a score of 87 and a time of 13 minutes and 17 seconds.
Student (Murtaza Abdul Abbas Kazem) from the Faculty of Medicine, has achieved the tenth place with a score of 86 and a time of 22 minutes and 48 seconds – The student (Fatima Barzan Taher) from the Faculty of Medicine, she won the rank of 21st with a score of 84 and with a time of 21 minutes and 75 seconds. With this achievement, University of Thi-Qar continues to accomplish superiority and leadership for the second time in a row in this important competition.
On this occasion, The Chancellor of University of Thi-Qar, Prof. Dr. Yahya Abdulreza Abbas, congratulated the winning students, stressing that this brilliance reflects the insistence of our students on success and that it is a source of pride for the university.
He added: “Your excellence is not only an individual achievement, but a victory for the values of science and knowledge that the university seeks to implant in the souls of its people, and we look forward to the continuation of this creative spirit in all fields.” In addition to the competition program, the winners will be honored with the amount of one hundred million dinars. So, the first ten winners will receive four million dinars for each , whereas the second ten winners get three million for each one, while the third ten winners will win two million dinars per winner, as well as a fourth ten winners will get one million dinars for each winning student.
